My tour of BNSF Division Street Yard & Shops
During the winter of 2001 my family visited family and friends in Minnesota. The husband of one of my wife's college roommates works for BNSF and offered to give me the VIP tour one evening. We started with a tour by car of the entire yard, then parked checked in with the supervisor, picked up our safety equipment, and headed out to the repair shop then on to the make ready tracks and hump tower. The few pictures I managed to take during my excitement are marginal at best but I think you can make out most of it.

A view inside the repair shop.

This machine trues the wheels without removing them from the engine.

A rebuilt generator ready for installation .

Friction motor with wheels waiting for repairs.

Two Pumpkins (SD45) waiting for fuel, sand, oil and to be moved to the ready tracks or to be mated with a train.

Drivers view inside the engine.

View of the repair shop from the hump tower.
The ready tracks, engines fueled, sanded and ideling waiting to be connected to a train.
Hump engine pulling train over hump to be pushed back over to be classified in the yard.
A bad picture of the hump slug that is attached in front of the hump train, notice how low the body is so it doesn't block the view of the hump crew.
