RS&L Garden Railroad

Past, Present & Future

The first operational layout consisted of an Aristo-Craft starter set that came with an 0-4-0 steam engine, slope back tender with sound, box car, bobber caboose, power pack and 4' circle of track that I expanded to 5' x 7' by adding some straight sections

The first outdoor layout was simply the first operational layout moved outside. It was simply laid on top of the white Ozark river rock that was already in place with out any other decorations because I could not decide what to do there.

The current and hopefully the permanent home for the RS&L, is the former playground area which is an area approximately 20' x 20' bordered with landscape timbers and filled with 2" to 3" of medium size washed river rock. The rock will eventually be replaced with topsoil as the layout design and planting design are finalized.

The new home with the first outer loop of track. Because I like to run large steam engines the final layout design although not finalized will have a minimum radius of 8' allowing the big steam engines to run anywhere on the layout.

The Current layout (5-02) not the final track plan just using what track I have currently to make 4 loops, two around the perimeter, one 8' x 18' oval and the original layout track expanded to 8' x 10'.
