My first gift bag. I built the sewing machine cabinet in a class taught by Gary Elmer. The quilt cabinet was a "free day" project by the Houston Area Miniature Guild. Filling the quilt cabinet with quilts wasn't as difficult as you'd think. We took pieces of foamcore cut to fit in the cabinet, then glued one of those square make-up remover pads to it and covered the front in faux quilt fabric. Great illusion for little or no expense. Quilting books and sewing supplies were part of a totebag at HAMG. Its hard to see her, but BabyGirl (my iguana) is "replicated" in miniature and is sitting on the rug. On the wall behind the sewing machine is a miniature quilt made by my mother in the 70's before I got the mini bug. It is hung in the quilt room as a tribute to her. I love the basket filled with fat quarters. Tomato pincushion (like Grandma's) on the sewing cabinet, filled sewing basket on the floor to the left. Parquet flooring is contact paper.

My new potting shed made using Tom Berkner's (Earth & Tree) "Seabrook" kit. Its supposed to be a fishing shack, but I made it into a potting shed. Note the real cedar bark used as siding. I also used eucalyptus leaves for shingles. Unfortunately, they don't show up here, but they are wonderful! I was determined to spend no money on this project, just use swaps and things I've made. Pretty cool, huh? The birdhouse on the front picture is one of my kits (also covered with cedar bark.
