Peter Johnson is the Upper School history and debate teacher at Kirby Hall. Mr Johnson graduated from high school in Fresno, California, in 1990. In May 1994, he received his B.A. from Riche University, with a double major in history and religious studies. During that time, he was an active competitor on Rice's Speech and Debate team, eventually being named an All-American debater. While in college, he worked in the oil industry as a geophysical research assistant for one of Houston's largest companies. Last spring, he received his M.A. in American history from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He enjoys learning about a wide variety of subjects, and is particularly fascinated by the history, languages and culture of Eastern Europe, which he hopes to visit someday.
