Mrs. McKenna and the third grade class are competing in the Global School Networks's Cyberfair. Mrs. McKenna has lead the students year long investigation into local leaders. The research grew from a investigation of Jobs and Career opportunities in Austin. The students were ask to list members of the Austin, their career and reason they wanted to know more. Mrs. McKenna organized field trips and class visits. Austin's city manager visited the class and described his work and his roll as a local leader in Austin. The students then had an opportunity to ask him questions and expand the discussion by sharing their own thoughts on leadership.
The Global School Network is sponsoring the CyberFair. Schools from around the World have entered the competition. But to show just how small of world this is; Mrs. McKennaÕs younger brother is a student teacher for a school in Nashville which is also competing in the CyberFair.
