Rules enable you to define consistent and logical responses to customer selections that affect Part-to-Part relationships.

Note: It is important not to confuse the Product Definition's categories of Parts with Rule [Operators]. Although they are named similarly because they describe analogous relationships, Categories of Parts describe the relationships of Parts to their Product in a Product Definition. In contrast, Rule Operators describe the relationships between Parts that occur in a Rule.

In Rules View, there are three columns in the Rule Details pane. These panes correspond to the three components that make the structure of every Rule: [LHS], [Operator], and [RHS].

We call the first column the "left hand side" [LHS].
