  Creating A Simple Constraint

Using the previous example of the Sets Value On Rule, we can demonstrate creation of a simple Constraint.

  1. Begin by clicking within the Constraint Editor pane to set the cursor.
  2. Type a left bracket ([) to open the drop-down list of Parts and Parts Classes available in the Rule that is associated with the Constraint.
  3. Highlight the appropriate Part or Part Class from the list by using your mouse cursor to select from the scrolling list, or scroll using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
  4. Double-click on the Part or Part Class you wish to select. The Part or Part Class name appears in the Constraint Editor. The type-ahead feature inserts a ".", which causes the Part or Part Class' list of associated Attributes to appear.
  5. Highlight the appropriate Attribute of the Part or Part Class by using your mouse cursor to scroll through the list, or by using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
  6. Double-click on the Attribute you wish to select. The Part or Part Class name appears within brackets, followed by the Attribute name that you selected.
