Defining Configuration Rules & Constraints
Contents:
  Rule Operators

The Operator describes the nature of the Part-to-Part Relationship between [LHS] and [RHS]. The Operator always appears between the [LHS] and [RHS] in a Rule. Each Rule can contain only one Operator. In each Rule, the Operator can define only one of four discrete Part-to-Part relationships (five, in SC Config PowerPack Manager):

Includes: When the [LHS] is selected, an Includes Operator causes the SC Config Engine to add the elements of the [RHS] to the product configuration.

Requires Choice: When the [LHS] is selected, the Requires Choice Operator causes the SC Config Engine to recognize that a choice has to be made from the elements of the [RHS].

Can't Work With: When the [LHS] is selected, the Can't Work With Operator causes the SC Config Engine to make the elements of the [RHS] unavailable for selection.

Removes: When the [LHS] is selected, the Removes Operator causes the SC Config Engine to remove the elements of the [RHS] from a product configuration.

Sets Value On: This Operator causes the SC Config Engine to assign a value (n) to specified Attributes of the elements in the [RHS]. This Rule is only available in SC Config PowerPack Manager.

Rule Operators also posess a characteristic of directionality.
