Dial up setup for Microsoft Windows XP
|

- Click on the Start Menu
- Choose All Programs
- Choose Control Panel.
- Click Next, depending on your setup,
you will see one of two screens.

If you do not see this screen, go here.
- If you see the screen to the left, double click
on Network and Internet Connections
- You will then see the following screen.

- Next double click on the Network Connections
Control Panel in the bottom corner.

- Afterwards, you will be taken here.
- If you skipped to this screenshot, then you must
not be running the WindowsXP stlye start menu
and theme
- If you see the screen to the left, double click on
Network Connections.
(the rest of the windows should look the same)

- Double click on Create a new
connection on the left sidebar.

- At the welcome window, simply click
the Next button.
|
|
- For the Network Connection Type, choose
Connect to the Internet
- Click the Next button.

- At this screen, choose Set up my connection
manually
- Click the Next button.
|
|
- At this screen, choose Connect using a dial-up modem
- Click the Next button.
|

 |
- In the ISP Name box, type realtime
- Click the Next button
|
|
- In the Phone number box, type your local dialup number
(found
here)
- Click the Next button.

- In the User name box, type your realtime.net
email address
- In the Password box, type your password.
- Do the same in the Confirm password box too.
- Click the Next button.

- At the final window, make sure you check Add a shortcut to this
connection to my desktop.
( This will allow you to easily connect to the internet through an
icon on your desktop)
- Click the Finish button

- You will be taken back to the Network Connections
window. You should be able to see the newly
created icon.
- Double click on the new icon
|
- When the Connect window comes up, click the Properties
button

- When the Properties window comes up,
click on the Networking tab
|
|
- Make sure Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is selected in the middle
box
- Click the Properties button.

 |
- About halfway down, select the circle that says Use
the following DNS server addresses.
- For the Preferred DNS server, enter 205.238.128.39
- For the Alternate DNS server, enter 205.238.128.42
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button one more time and you will be
taken back to the Connect window.
