Using Config PPP


These images are only screenshots. Please use these images as an example of what you should see on your own computer.

  • Click on Apple Menu -> Control Panels -> Config PPP.

  • At the main window, click the New button, and type Realtime for the name of the new connection. Then click the OK button.

  • In the Port Name box, select Modem Port.

  • In the Idle Timeout (minutes) box, select 15 or None.

  • In the Echo Interval (seconds) box, select Off.

  • Click on the Config button.

 

  • In the Port Speed box, select the closest speed above the speed of your
    modem (i.e. 14400 modem = 19200, 28800 modem or 33600 modem = 38400 56k modem = 57600).

  • In the Flow Control box, select CTS only.

  • In the Phone number box, type your local dialup number (found here).

  • The Modem Init box should be left with the default init string that is already there. If necessary, it can be changed to adjust the modem's performance.

  • Click on the Authentication button.

  • In the Auth. ID box, type your realtime.net email address

  • In the Password box, type your password.

  • Click the OK button.

  • Click the Done button.

  • Close the Config PPP window completely

TCIP/IP

  • Click on Apple Menu -> Control Panels -> TCP/IP
  • In the Connect via drop down list, select FreePPP.

  • In the Configure drop down list, select Using PPP Server.

  • In the Name server addr box, type 205.238.128.39

  • On the next line, type 205.238.128.42

  • In the Search domains box, type realtime.net.

  • Close this window. You can now skip to the end of this page

MacTCP

  • Click on Apple Menu -> Control Panels -> MacTCP.

  • Highlight the PPP icon, then click the More button
    (the icon might be called FreePPP or Config PPP).

 

  • In the Obtain Address section, put a dot next to Server.

  • In the Gateway Address box, type 0.0.0.0

  • In the IP Address section, select Class C.
  • In the first two Domain boxes, type realtime.net.

  • In the first IP Address box, type 205.238.128.39

  • In the second IP Address box, type 205.238.128.42

  • Click the OK button

  • Close the MacTCP window.

You should now be setup to connect to the Internet!
