Eudora 5.0

These images are only screen shots. Please use these images as an example
of what you should see on your own computer.
|
|
- Click on the Tools menu, then choose Options.
- Select the Getting Started category on the left.
|
 |
|
 |
- In the Real name box, type your full name.
- In the Return address box, type your full email address.
- In the Mail Server (Incoming) box, type mail.realtime.net
- In the Login Name box, type your full email address
- In the SMTP server (Outgoing) box, type mail.realtime.net
- Select Allow Authentication
- Click on the Checking Mail category.
|
|
|
- If you want Eudora to remember your password put a check in the box
labeled Save password.
(so you won't have to type it in every time you check for new mail)
- Click on the Sending Mail category.
|
 |
|
 |
- In the Domain to add to unqualified addresses box, type realtime.net
This will make Eudora add the corresponding domain to email addresses
with no domain specified. For example, if you type johndoe as the email
address in a new message, Eudora will add the domain you specify in
this
box to the end (such as johndoe@realtime.net). This is simply a convenience
and is NOT a hard-set requirement.
- Click the OK button.
|
Now we need to specify port 587 as the outgoing mail
port.
To do so, please follow these steps in Windows XP
- Close Eudora
- Open "my computer" or "Windows Explorer" (NOT
INTERNET EXPLORER)
- Browse to c:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Qualcomm\eudora
- Locate "eudora.ini"
- Open it with notepad
- Under the line that reads "SMTPServer=mail.realtime.net"
add a line that reads "SMTPPort=587" (without the quotes)
- save and close the file
|
|
Eudora is now configured to check your email! The other settings in the
Options window are really more personal preference type settings, feel
free to browse around and play with it a little...The settings we went
over here are the ones that are important in order for you to send and
receive email.
