This is the organization of the group circa 1986. There are three A-4M squadrons, but typically one would be attached to MAG-12 in Iwakuni, Japan at any one time.
This is the group that is part of the 1st MAW in our occupation forces in Japan. MAG-12 is currently in Iwakuni, Japan, about 40 miles or so south of Hiroshima.
This is a provisional Group that formed the cadre for the 3d MAW in Operation Desert Shield. The provisional Group concept has since been abandoned, as everyone recognized that we would never deploy a Group without calling it a Wing. Too many Generals want to play too!
