The prominent gentleman with the unusual glasses (which gave him much grief from the staff) is Bob O'Brien, probably the funniest Marine I knew. Owen Murray to his right is probably laughing at whatever OB is saying about our latest gourmet meal. Both these guys went to school with me.
Boredom interspersed with frantic activity? No, but once in a very rare while, we were able to relax long enough for me to pull out my cheap camera. It was a very old Kodak Instamatic 110, small enough to fit in my pocket and cheap enough to not worry about breaking.
Here are the Marines of Notre Dame's class of 1985, from left to right:
Me (Mike Rentner), Capt Sweeney (our Instructor), Todd Lilly, Bob McMonagle, Bob O'Brien, Brian Hearney (his father was later assistant Commandant), Wally Adamchik, Owen Murray, Mike English, John Casey (commissioned later that summer due to an injury), Mariana Karam, Pat Campbell, and GySgt Betancourt.
