Back living in Austin, TX.
I spend most of my free time doing the following things:
I've been playing the Keys since age 10. (I can also play the trumpet, although I don't presently own a horn). I have played in numerous bands in the past, the most successful of which was the Tom Limbaugh Band in NY. We played original music (blues influenced rock), which I prefer to playing copies or covers.
Throughout my youth, I received music instruction at school (trumpet) and from private instructors (piano). After a slight layoff during college, I spent over 5-6 years under the tutelage of Jazz Pianist, John Esposito. John has been a major influence on my playing and musical thinking. Honestly, it was a quantum leap for me.
I listen to a lot of different types music. My list is so long, it's pointless to commit it to writing.
I am a heavy Sonar user. Since arriving in San Antonio, I have been collaborating with my good friend, Phil Pepin, who owns and operates Tunesmith Studio.. (Not surprising, Phil is also a Sonar user).
Phil and I have been collaborating on our own original music for the past year. I have also arranged music for both stage and film, done session work for other local artists, and performed on multiple radio jingles.
Most recently, Phil and I formed an Independent Record Label, Basil Records, LLC.
I have studied several Kung Fu Systems, which are listed below:
I've noticed strange parallels between the process of learning a martial art and music.
I really learned about movies during 2001, when myself, and other Ling Mo students appeared as fighting extras in the movie, Yorick. We hope to do more of this in the future.
I have always enjoyed watching good movies particularly if they're directed by:
I grew up a Colts fan, and can still remember SuperBowl III, V, the infamous 1977 Divisional Playoff game (aka. The Ghost to the Post game), and how the team was stolen away. I was glad to see my hometown finally get a team again, and fortunate enough to see them win SuperBowl XXXV. I manage to go back to Baltimore and catch 2 or 3 games a year.
After winning the division and having the #1 defense, I think things are looking pretty good for the 2007-2008 season. I have been known to hang out at various Ravens' message boards.
I am not fond of the current owner. I'm not sure how this ship can be righted. I still watch my O's, but it certainly is painful!
How could I have lived in S.A. and not be a fan? World Champs 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007. People are starting to call them a dynasty, now!
I currently have two blogs:
